80’s Baby
I love my new sweater! I got it when we were in Sydney for the blink of an eye. All I’ve wanted to wear this autumn has been a sweater over a dress or skirt so I was stoked when I finally found one that ticked all of my boxes. Reminiscent of the late 80’s/early 90’s? Tick! On sale? Tick! Guess I’m not that picky. Sure there were other requirements. But I won’t bore you with them. Just like I won’t bore you with the rest of this outfit. Not
Dressed To The Nineties
I am but a simple girl and need only two things: Doc Martens and a dress. If I was allowed another two things (come on, just two?) I would choose a cardigan and torn jeans. Give me another two and I’m stuck. Maybe another two dresses. But seriously, why are you putting restraints on my wardrobe man? You used to be cool. Hey remember that skirt that I love? Well I love this dress too. A whole lot. And hey, guess what? I got it at the same place. Sure
A Change Is Gonna Come
You’re right Sam Cooke, a change sure is gonna come. Or really, it already has. There are so many changes going on right now it’s hard to ignore. You’ve probably noticed that it’s been a little light on the posts around here lately. I’ve been thinking about that for a while and I think I’ve formulated what I want to say enough to get it down here. I started my blog in January of last year. The 4th to be exact. And I posted every day for a year. A
For The Dogs
We finally made it to the Dog Track last night! After being rained out last time we were particularly excited to claim our spot in the grand stand and start placing our $2 bets. The weather was just gorgeous. The sky put on quite a show going from a gorgeous pink to an amazing purple and then throwing up the most incredible, HUGE moon. It was a perfect night. The dogs were endlessly amusing and there’s a certain charm to drinking beer out of a plastic cup. But the thing
What To Say
Man, I’ve started and stopped writing this so many times now. I really just don’t know what to say. I’ve finished up work for the week so The Man and I are heading out tomorrow to help with the flood clean up. The Brisbane River peaked lower than expected early this morning at 4.46m instead of 4.6m. While this saved a number of homes, 20,000 were still inundated. The water is slowly beginning to subside but it’s been said that recovery could take at least 2 years. It’s still just
Dog Day
We were supposed to go to the Dog Track last night but it got rained out. So we went to the grocery store instead. I know, it’s just go, go, go around here. We did manage to have some fun in the parking lot though. And then made a super delicious dinner on our brand new BBQ. It’s the last day of holidays today. I have a whole huge heap of work waiting for me on Monday morning. Back to the grind eh? On the plus side, I might start
Stop.Take Some Time To Think
I saw this display when I was at the store today. They’re Valentines Day cards. It’s December. What, birthdays and anniversaries aren’t good enough any more? Babies being born, friends moving into a new house – these occasions aren’t enough to sustain us the 2 1/2 months without a retail occasion? I’m repulsed. And perhaps I feel so strongly because this is not an isolated event. I was helping out with a little last minute shopping on Christmas Eve at Myer. While we navigated our way through the throngs of
Life Handed Us a Paycheck, We Said "We Worked Harder Than This!"
I’m liking slouchy a lot lately. Today I feel kinda “Luxe Slouchy”. Is that a real term? It is now. Expensive slouchy. Even though I’m not wearing anything expensive. I shop sales sister, it’s the way I roll. Do you guys have something special picked out to wear for Christmas? I haven’t. Every year I try too hard and end up feeling a bit average about my choices. There’s a top I like in Myer but it’s full price and I just know it’s going to be go on sale
Storm Girl
When I finished grade 7 my teacher gave me a book called Storm Boy. Wait, maybe it was Storm Girl. Whatever. The point is, she wrote inside the cover: “Dear Selise, maybe this will keep you quiet over the holidays.” Gosh, thanks Ms Travers. Way to be one of those nice, supportive, encouraging teachers I’ve heard so much about. I didn’t deserve that. I was never a bad kid. Seriously, I never skipped school, didn’t smoke behind the shed. The very image of an angel. I stole a sign from
Summer Time and the Living is Steamy
Uh oh. It got hot. What is this, summer or something? And what I think is hot right now is nothing on the usual temperature for this time of year. As an aside, how long is my hair getting? Is it time to see Katie again? Dress: Was Mum’sBelt: Valley GirlShoes: Target Man, you can tell it’s hot. I’m only wearing 3 things! Don’t forget to enter my give away. It ends tomorrow!
