Yet here I am

I got an email last month with an invoice to renew my website hosting for another year and I wondered, for a few days, if I should just let it go. It’s been a helluva long time (a year, seven months, and 12 days) since I posted anything. I certainly haven’t been taking any outfit photos. I could spend the hosting money on the electricity bill or something equally exciting.

Yet here I am.

In the end it made me sad to think of letting go of something that was such an integral part of my life for years. Years. There’s years worth of writing here and it’s strange, since I’ve started writing for other people professionally, there’s a lot less writing for myself going on.

Like a chef who scarfs down 2-minute noodles in front of a microwave or a mechanic who drives a busted up jalopy, I appear to be a writer who spends all her words on others and can’t seem to conjure any for herself.

I’ve been plenty busy. Writing articles for Yen, The Collective and Jetstar. Crafting. Writing letters. Reading. Rolling around all sweaty on the ground in BJJ classes four nights a week. I just haven’t thought to write about it. But looking back over past entries here (and I do. Often.) I get nostalgic for little moments I know I’m still having, just not documenting.

I’m not going to make any wild promises and I have no idea what or how often I’ll post. But what I do know is there’s too much here to let go of.

Excellent! I feel very much the same about my LiveJournal, although that was never public, so it’s just me I’m declining to entertain. Seems like there isn’t much room in adult life for anything but the obligations of said adult life!
