Peace

February 12th, 2010 by Selise

This shirt is another one of my op-shop scores. But I actually found it the next day when I took The Man back with me to pick up some fantastic pictures that I will no doubt share soon. Anyway this guy was just hanging out all casual on the rack even though I’d given the place a good once over the day before with West. So I got awesome pictures and a surprise new shirt. Yay!

I’ve taken the Asian inspiration from this shirt 2 ways. First I’ve paired it with some flared blue jeans, sneakers and peace necklaces in a Vietnam War Protestor type feel.

Then I decided to go a little kabuki with the eye make up. That was fun this morning. I really should get a little more creative with my eye make up like I used to. It’s funny. After I finished Beauty School I’ve become more tame with my make up. I guess when we started we all wanted to do the most crazy high fashion make up but instead had to learn the basics of blending and subtlety and now I’ve come to appreciate that, I don’t go overboard too often. Comparatively speaking I guess. I do wear a pretty heavy eye most days.

Speaking of high fashion, I was very saddened to hear about the death of Alexander McQueen this morning. While I’ve not been lucky enough to actually own one of his pieces, the fairy tale world that he and his fellow designers create is enough for me to get lost in. It is a tragic loss to have occurred and especially at such a young age. I know that there will be much mourning and remembering of a very talented man that pushed boundaries and created beautiful things. I hope that he has found the peace that he was looking for.
